Beauty Trends You Can’t Afford To Miss in 2017 (Plus: How to get Gigi’s glow)

So it’s 2017, and we all want to be ahead of the curve when it comes to beauty. I’ve curated this handy little guide, based on popular looks from the Spring/Summer 17 runways, so that you can stock up and get practicing on some of the most beautiful beauty trends for this year. Bold blush, gold eyes, pops of colour and flowers (floral for spring? that’s right Miranda!). Here we go!

Bold blush

Seen on the runways of many a prominent designer, bold blusher is going to be big in 2017. It’s up to you how bold you want to go, from a natural flush, to full on war paint, I think the main thing to keep in mind is the colour when you’re going for this look. Steer clear of soft apricots and tawny hues, and instead opt for hot pink, bright coral and bold reds.

Keno Fashion Show Makeup

I love Sleek makeup, this creme blusher is perfect for non-drying colour. Go for Sweet Cheeks in Lickety Split, currently on sale for £3.84.

Or Bobbi Brown Blusher in shades; Apricot, New Coral Sugar, or Peony, for £19.50 each.

Glitter, shimmer, all things sparkly

We’ve already been seeing glitter accents from MUA’s and enthusiasts on Instagram, and glitter’s going to be popular in 2017 for Spring and Summer as well. It’s not going away, so pick up some glittery eyeliner in your favourite shade and get practicing. You can add accents however you choose, I like to draw a glittery outline in the inner eye, or to highlight the edge of bold black eyeliner. It’s fun, it’s girly, it puts a little twinkle in your eye, literally. Make it more summery with yellow toned golds and turquoise.

Pat McGrath Fashion Show Makeup

Try NYX professional pigments in Go H.A.M for £5.50.

Or Urban Decay heavy metal glitter eyeliner in Midnight Cowboy for £14.00, perfect for adding accents and precise enough to use as a liner.

Glossy, glossy lips

Ahh glossy lips, I love glossy lips, they make my lips look bigger, more moisturised, I think gloss is beautiful, and I love to put as much on as possible.
I love to pick a nude with a touch of colour, you want to emphasise and enhance your natural lip colour, so a muted purple or rose with gold speckles is absolutely perfect. I LOVE gloss (can you tell how much I love gloss??). These are my top recommendations.
Mac lipglass in Nymphette is absolutely perfect for spring/summer, you can order online or buy in-store for £15.
You can also try MAC lipglass in shades Cultured, Lychee Luxe, and Dreamy.

Smudged Eyeliner

I think we can all agree that 2016 was the year of the bold wing, if I had a dollar for every perfectly lined set of peepers that have popped up on my timeline…

Well, some designers opted to change it up and go for smudgy, unstructured liner instead, and if like me you’re a hazard with a wand of liquid liner this might be music to your ears. Here are some of the best pigmented, and more importantly, smudge-able liners on the market.

Rimmel Scandaleyes liner in black for £3.99.

Estée Lauder Pure Colour Intense Kajal Liner in Blackened Black for £16.50.

Dewy Glowy Skin as modelled by Gigi Hadid

Isabel Marant Fashion Show Makeup

Some designers, like Isabel Marant, went for no-makeup makeup. The models looked healthy and glowing with natural eyebrows and lashes. Here’s Gigi looking absolutely gorgeous.

Soft dewy skin is going to be a big deal for Spring and Summer, which is lovely because it looks so fresh faced and healthy, to achieve this look you’re going to need a great quality concealer, a touch of bronzer and a tinted moisturiser which gives a glow and maintains its moisturised, satin appearance. I’ve created my own take on this natural look, see below:

These are the best products I can recommend for achieving a natural, barely-there fresh face.

Dior Backstage Pro Fix-It 2-in-1 Prime & Conceal £23.50, I used 002 Medium, I’ve got mine in a lighter shade because I like my concealer to be really brightening.

Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser for £29.00.

Bodyshop Brush-on-Radiance for £14.00. This product is just beautiful; gold, bronze and apricot tones that blend perfectly together for a bronze-glow combo, sun kissed heaven.

(I also use my NYX Wonder pencil in the inner corners of the eye to draw attention to them.)

Pastel Eyeshadow

Jill Stuart Makeup

I’m really happy about this trend because personally, I just adore pastels. This Pastel Times Nine palette from MAC gives a variety of shades so it’s easy to find something to suit. If you’re feeling really daring, you can go for a dual colouring like Jill Stuart and clash your pastels, pale pink with pastel blue, or lavender and green. It’s light-hearted, playful, feminine, it’ll leave your face looking positively floral. Perfect for Spring.

Eyeshadow x 9- MAC Pastel Times Nine palette for £25.00.

Orange is the new everything

Orange is in! Notoriously hard to wear, orange featured on the S/S runways in all kinds of ways, nails and eyes seem best for experimentation. Pair with a touch of shimmer for summer of ’69 vibez.

Blugirl Makeup

Try Jessica custom nail colour in Orange You Glad To See Me for £11.00.

Floral in 3D

I was so excited to see floral hair accessories making a statement at fashion week. Maybe it’s a bit much for everyday, but I love the idea of wearing a garland of flowers with a babydoll dress for optimum romance, perfect for special occasions in the summer. Try a flower garland with a knee length tunic dress, for simple July wedding gorgeousness.

This hairband is only £7.00 from ASOS.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading about my beauty predictions for 2017, I’d love to know your thoughts- I can’t wait to get trying out some of these looks this spring!
