Supermodel Jourdan Dunn has collaborated with internet giant Missguided to produce an urban line. It’s available now on the Missguided website here: https://www.missguided.co.uk/londunn-missguided . Read on for some of my favourite pieces, tips on how to style it and my honest verdict on this new line.
Firsts thing’s first… Who is Jourdan Dunn?
If you don’t know, you should!
Jourdan has achieved global fame as a widely popular model, working for major fashion houses, walking the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and starring in music videos besides Queen Bey herself. She’s also a mother to her little boy, Riley.
Now that that’s settled, let’s take a look at Jourdan’s real life street style. For me the most pointless thing about celeb collaborations is where the designers create the range seemingly in complete isolation from the celeb’s real style and they just use the celeb’s profile to bring more attention to whatever it is they’re trying to sell. I’d love to see a real collaboration here, it would be so cool to know that Jourdan’s brought her own fashion sense to the collection and the Missguided team have worked with her to create something really personal.
Okay, looking at these pics it’s pretty clear why they’ve named the collection ‘Londunn’, Jourdan has a definite city-girl style, I love it! You can get a real sense of her personality and identity through her clothing choices, she always looks comfortable and puts her ensembles together in an interesting way. I’m seeing a lot of black and bold colours, bandana, cap, trainers, I hope she’s stayed true to this look with Missguided because I think people would love it, I feel like it’s really wearable.
Now let’s have a look at the collection.
I love this oversized sweater dress for £32, it’s just the kind of comfy, simple wardrobe staple that you can wear day to day.
This faux fur hooded jacket is £70, I like it because it’s a bit less run-of-the-mill but definitely still wearable (the ring pull zip is a nice touch), you can dress it up or down, it’s a statement piece but not too out there because of the muted colour. You can picture this going with a vest and jeans, just as well as it does with the dress above.
This square necked mini dress for £22 comes in a few different colours, including I think, white and black. It seems to be good quality and a snug fit which is absolutely essential for body cons. There are so many ways to style a piece like this and I think for the price it’s worth getting, it’s the type of thing you expect to have in your wardrobe already and then you’re shocked when you don’t. You can’t go wrong with something like this.
These popper-side joggers are £28, they have great reviews on the Missguided website for their quality and fit which is really encouraging because I think they look great with heels here and I think it’s rare to find things that are versatile enough to go from day to night. I think that there are so many different ways to wear these and they’d be a great purchase.
Items I’m not so sure about…
Open back top for £30. I just don’t really get it, open back, wing sleeves, high neck line, I’m not really sure what it’s going for here or what it’s meant to be worn with. It doesn’t help that they’ve just put the model in a pair of pants. It’s cool but not wearable for most people in my opinion.
Velour tracksuit bottoms for £35. It’s the shape I can’t handle here, maybe on a tall thin beautiful model, but I’d look totally bizarre in these.
Again, this bodysuit for £32 is too cool for it’s own good, it ends up being a bit pussycat doll. You know, circa the early 2000s. It’s just too much going on, hood, plunge neckline, slit sleeves, I have no idea how I would style this.
This is definitely a city-inspired collection and it’s clear they’ve kept to Jourdan’s London girl appeal so that’s good. I’d wear about 50% of the items in this collection, some pieces are a bit much for me. I don’t think there are many outfits I’d make up and wear from this line alone. On the whole i think there’s something for everybody, it’s very on trend with a lot of velour, mesh and jersey, it’s definitely been designed to fit with trainers and baseball caps. You can never have too many good quality, good fitting everyday pieces in your collection so I would recommend giving this collection a browse.
